Hi, all.

Can we have Civil3D create linework when importing cogo points with descriptions for such (PNEZD format), using the "Aeccimportpoints" command?

We have styles setup for all our points (like sewer manholes and power poles), and have also set up a field prefix database that would identify all the codes related to linework (such as edge of pavement or utility line), but when we bring in a csv file in PNEZD format, only the cogo point styles are applied (we see the manholes and power poles) but the linework is not created (no edges of pavement for example), even though there are plenty of points in there to connect linework through with correct description/code.

I searched online but the only similar things I found were on how to import using the survey database, which is not what I was looking for.

Any help or guidance is much appreciated.

Thanks, Tim.

So, the "Aeccimportpoints" command is really just for points? It reads descriptions and applies styles but is not capable of creating linework based on that description? That's odd...

I've tried importing the file through the survey database, but had the same result: the points had their styles applied correctly, but saw no linework. The csv file used was in PNEZD format, with codes like "WPM" for a few points for "water paint mark". The first point's description was "WPM B" to begin the linework, but like I said, it didn't work.

Perhaps you can shed some light in this issue?

Yes, the linework option is part of import into Survey database, but not regular point file import through Civil 3D. 'twould be nice.

Right.

Do you know how to fix the problem with the survey database import not creating the linework, even though the figure prefix database codes match the description use? Or maybe can offer some guidance on how to find a solution?

Thanks,

Hi, Steve. Thanks for the reply.

While checking your comment here on my end, I realized there was no linework code set - that was the issue. It was not letting us create one until we changed the folder it was looking into... Now it all works.

Thanks for all the help, everyone.
