Hi all,

First of all, apologies if this has been discussed but I couldn't find a solution. I am trying to create a transition from a kerb and channel to a kerb without channel (curb and gutter to curb without gutter for my American friends :). I have an alignment running along the lip of the channel then tapering to the face of the kerb. I couldn't find a way to do using the UrbanCurbGutterGeneral subassembly. Unfortunately I don't know how to use the subassembly composer. Is there any way to make this transition to happen. I have attached an image showing the profile of both types of kerb I'm trying to use.

Cheers

Javier

Civil 3D 2017

Over what length does this transition need to happen? And is it critical that it be modeled "just right"?

One option, if extreme detail isn't warranted, is to simply end one region before the taper and start the next region (with the other type of curb/kerb) after the transition.

If the detail is critical to the project, I would probably go the route of creating it in subassembly composer or find someone that can. Check with your local reseller, they might be able to train you on how to do this or do it for you <shameless self plug> or you could talk to a great reseller in the Denver, Colorado region that I know of </shameless self plug>.

You could use an Assembly paradigm of Condtional subassemblies paired with the Gutter subassembly using incremental channel widths.

I would model this with a curb with no gutter width (actually a width of .0001 since can not have a 0 width) attached to a lane sub as the gutter. Targeting with the lane makes the gutter transition.

Thanks all for your replies. I ended up creating 3 regions:

kerb + channel

kerb + link

kerb

I ran a feature line from the face of the kerb between regions 1 and 3, getting the elevations at each end from the corridor surface, then targeted the link to that feature line. It worked OK because it's a pretty short transition on an island. That wouldn't work on a longer transition.

Cheers

Javier

You don't have a gutter Shape doing that. It seemed you wanted the Shape to transition...
