I have a DXF with four polyface meshes in it. When I tried to add each mesh to my surface, only the smallest one actually made it into the surface. The other three needed to be exploded and added as 3D faces. I don't know why. But, at least I have a surface I can work with now. Thanks.

I have a survey file that seems to have been created in 3ds Max (Don't ask me why). It has what looks like a surface in it, but is actually a 'Polyface Mesh'.

I followed the suggestion here but it says 'Not a valid object type' when I get to CONVTONURBS .

Does anyone have any ideas how I can convert this into a C3d surface? There is data in the file in the form of text with blocks at the spots, but that doesn't help me much if I can't export them to xml or convert them to C3d points. I also tried Import Survey Data > Import Points From Drawing but it won't select any of the points I need...

File is attached if anyone can help me out.

Select the polyfacemesh, EXPLODE, create a surface, under the definition find Drawing objects, add 3dFaces, select the 3d faces created by the explode.

Thanks Jeff, I knew it would be simpler than I thought 🙂

You're welcome. I should note that you could also just omit the Explode part and use the mesh itself by selecting the polyface option.

Now you can use polyface to create the surface instead of 3D faces which will not work with meshfaces now on the 2023 version as I have tested.

Thank you!
