topic Create finished grade profile based on high/low point station and elevation in Civil 3D Forum

Is there a method or separate software to create a finished grade profile based on high and low point stations and elevations? Adjusting the PVI's so that I match known high/low point stations and elevations is a chore.

Create a text file with the stations and elevations, then create profile from file.

Thanks for the quick reply. First, I never created a profile based on an external file. Very nice. However, in my case, that technique is used for known PVI elevations. I need to know of a method to modify the PVI's at vertical curves based on known high and low point elevations. Currently, once I set the PVI at a vertical curve, I get an high/low point station and elevation. Next, I manually (painstakingly) adjust the PVI to shift the high/low point to match my design high/low point station and elevation. I'm wondering if there is a way to input the station and elevation at the high/low points of the vertical curve as opposed to the PVI of the vertical curve.

I've never tried this, but there is an option to create vertical curves with a Passthrough point. If you set that at your known location then you can move PVI points and adjust tangents etc. without moving that fixed passthrough location.
