Hello:

Has anyone experienced drawings being somehow corrupted and doubling in size? We are working with very simple/small drawings (no C3D elements, only lines & text), but referencing them into a larger compiled drawing. Each of our drawings are about 500kb, and contain around 200 elements at most. Just simple lines, text and leaders.

If we have one of our drawings open in a session of Civil3D, and open an "infected" drawing and save..... the once clean and streamlined drawing doubles in size. If you try and open the now "corrupted" drawing... it takes forever, and the drawing is totally sluggish and bogged down. The element count in the drawing is still the same though. Even after corrupted, the doubled drawing is only around 1,200kb, but it takes approx. 45 seconds to open.

I've attached a "corrupted" drawing here, so troubleshshoot with caution!

This is likely caused by a known issue in Civil 3D versions 2013 through 2017. There are fixes for 2014 through 2017:

Read the second article, "Important technical note regarding Civil 3D"
