I have a drawing that seems to have corrupted. The issue is certain structures are no longer coming in at the correct size (2k X the size). I can open the same dwg from two days previous and the structures are correctly sized. What is typically used for the Structure Style plan Size Option is Used Fixed Scale from part size. When set to this the structure is increasing the size (in the newer dwg only). Changing to Use fixed scale get the part closer to the size it should be, but not exact. The part is a Rectangular Structure Slab Top Rectangular Frame. The 36 x 36 Rect Structure 36 x 36 Frm displays the correct size, others do not (ex. 48 x 48 Rect Structure 48 x 48 Frm. I’m uncertain why this stopped working correctly in the newer dwg but works correctly in the older dwg file.

C3D 2017, SP 1.1

Win 7

I have seen this happen in multiple drawings, so far just in 2017. Mine went supersized, to about 2 x 10^20m Diameter. This was just not on one isolated system, it happened on mine (Instructor) and at least 2 of my students machines. It also happened on mine on two separate drawing files that were not connected at all.

I had this sent into AutoDesk, but i have not heard anything from them, and it has not appeared in the last month or so, but I have not been using 2017...

Changing the style to the other part size like you mentioned seems to have worked, but again if the corruption issue is around I am not sure.

One thing that I did notice is that it did not appear in my drawing until I opened one of my students drawings, so it is almost appearing as it is similar to the German Object Naming Bug from 3-4 years ago.

Hi - we are having this happen in multiple drawings using 2017 or 2018. So far it only on drawings the were created with 2016. The style is set to use fixed scale from part size, and all of a sudden the structure are huge in scale. It doesn't happen immediately, so I am unable to figure out what triggers this. If I change the style to anything but use fixed scale from part size, the structures will size correctly to the selection.

Has anyone heard of a fix for this coming?

Thanks,

Bill

Civil 3D 2016, 2017, 2018

W10

Oh for sure, you would think with the number of people now reporting this that they would put out a fix for it.

In the interim, you can go into your structure style and tell it to use the size from the part size and this should fix the display issue of it anyways.

Not sure if it is causing something else, given that it gives errors when you open the program.

I agree 100%...

We are just beta testers... And they don't even fix the bugs that we discover. The manhole issue was originally discovered in 2017, so a product that is now more than a year old is still encountering this issue. Now it upsets me to hear that it has propagated to 2018, being that I have to be on the newest of the newest version.

So this just happened to my brand new drawing again. Again the same size. 2x10^20m in diameter. I am teaching a brand new semester and brand new drawing set in Civil 3D 2018. I am dreading the next 6 weeks as I have 90 students that are going to be possibly having this issue. I open up my drawing to be greeted with a "You have 47 errors, then giant manholes appear.

Anyone have a fix for this yet?

ALL of the structures, not just one type. When we put the structures on Fixed scale, they can get close, but on Scale from Part Size, they become huge.Has anyone found a fix or workaround for this yet?

Thanks,
Meredith H.

LWE

I could never come up with a reason why or when it would happen, it was really random. I did narrow it down that it would only happen to the structure styles that were set to "use fixed scale from part size" in the size option. Our "fix" was to create separate styles for each different structure size, and set the size option to "use fixed scale". It also seemed to be only in drawings or structures that were created in an earlier version of civil 3d.

Hope that helps!

We just came across this same issue today - again a drawing that was started in 2016 and now is worked on (for several weeks) in 2018.

The work-around "solution" I did was in the structure style, set the plan SIZE OPTION to USE DRAWING SCALE and play with the number. For instance we are working in metric with drawing scale of 1:250 - so I set the scale to 6.35. I seems to be a scaling issue of imperial to metric - the old 25.4x scaling issue. At 1:250 - or a quarter of 1:1000 - so 25.4/4=6.35. The structures are not quite right - but a lot closer than using a fixed scale where all structures look the same.

I have an interesting twist on this issue.

I have 1 drawing that a certain user can open up and the manhole structures are insanely huge! They can open the next drawing in the set and the manholes are correctly sized. I have had multiple users open both drawings and the manholes are correctly sized.

I checked the block definition we are using for the structure in the drawing with the issue on both the user where it is showing up huge and on another pc. Block defiinition is correct.

1 user and 1 drawing with the issue. Other drawings with this user are fine. Other users with this drawing are fine.

I have no idea where to go with this one.
