Here is a typical file. It happens to all file conversions, not just one. Note that the CS is set to Wisconsin, Dane County US Ft (HARN/WI.DaneWI-F). We use this CS in both C3D and Mstn.

Civil 3D 2018/Win 7

I am trying to export to a dgn. My dwg is set to use US Survey Feet as units. The dgn seed file I specify in the export dialog uses US Survey Feet as Master Units, and I select Master Units as the export unit.

When I export Civil 3D scales the entire dwg by 3.2808333333 (metric conversion scale factor). I cannot see how or why it is doing this. Any ideas on what to check?

thanks.

Hi @Anonymous

Please review your previous post about this issue and suggestions that were given. I don't know if any of these solutions worked but, I suggest reviewing the DWG open options in Microstation to see if this resolves your issue.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-civil-3d-forum/conversion-to-dgn/m-p/6740764#M324419

Thanks for the reply.

I did as suggested in the previous post - made Master = Sub Units in Microstation = US Survey Ft in the seed file. The problem persists.

My workaround is to export the dwg to AutoCAD, then open it in Micorstation, then save_as a dgn, or attach as a dwg reference and merge into the dgn.

I'm convinced that it has nothing to do with Microstation, but the scaling occurs when Civil 3D converts the dwg to a dgn.

I am happy to hear that you have a solution for this issue! Unfortunately, I don't have Microstation so; I can't test or confirm this issue.

Would it be possible to share this file with the community so, they may be able to solve or make suggestions on this matter.

If you ever have any problems in the future, I'll be here, and I'm happy to help.

Best Regards,

Hi all,

I am having the exact same problem. Was anyone able to determine a solution besides the work-around? We have been using this work-around for a while, but would really like to use the export process. We are planning to set up the conversion settings to bring in correct linestyles and lineweights on the microstation side and the workaround won't work for that.

Thanks.
