Dear friends, Is there a way to bring a platted subdivision into your drawing to underlay it on to your specific lot survey?

Do you mean a scanned image file? Yes. With taste tools or regular acad command

Acad:
INSERT>> pick an arbitrary point near your survey

ALIGN>> pick points that relate to both (property lines are a good idea) read the prompts... scale =yes
Done

It is just a plat copy that I look up on line at property appraisers office. It appears to be a black and white scan. I tried saving as PDF and inserting but the program did not recognize a pdf(i believe)

If I'm not mistaken, @Joe-Bouza is referring to his earlier post about inserting an image, then his revised instruction on how to bring in a pdf, because bringing a pdf in is different than bringing in a jpg file.

Try this screencast for what I think he means:

http://autode.sk/2BGggC2

Ok, I had to google xrefs. It seemed quite confusing but just like anything on this program one rabbit hole always leads to another. I brought the plat in, but I can see how this would lead to more fun stuff like importing areal photos. Also this could have saved me time because I can have the plat copy(with all of its bearings, distances and curve tables right there on my drawing screen) instead of printing the plat out and taping it together.

The amazing thing is, many people will lead you to believe that you have to go to school or that this is all incredibly difficult. That may be the case if you have no background in the trade you are trying to draw in. Actually it would probably help me as well, but my point being....I have learned so much of this incredible program through my own drive, patience, persistence and of course many pointers from my friends on here. I just dove in and did my first xref by lifting the hood and scraping my knuckles.

The more rabbit holes I go down makes the intimidation factor of this program become less and less and I owe much of it to you guys. I wish I could buy you all a drink.
