If this is a new drawing, perhaps the scale settings are off and the annotation is coming in so small, you can't see it.

Immediatley after you annotate an object, run the LIST command, then when it asks you for a selection, type in "L" for the last object created, then observe. Is the last object created an annotation object? If so, use the Zoom command, Object suboption, and zoom to the selection of "L" again.

If the lines and curves are polylines you may need to convert them to 'lightweight' polylines for them to be labeled. CONVERTPOLY will do it.

morning

I have seen this before - check you label style, look at the color; does it match your background color?

have a "wiz kid" who likes to check everyones knowledge of Civil3D.

best of luck

I have just run into a similar problem with an associates project. The solution was to check the value in an xref'd dwg using "cannoscale" or the annotation scale in the customization bar at the bottom of the screen. the scale was set too low in the 'base' file and matching it to the final vpscale did the trick.
