Hi,

I'm being somewhat forced into upgrading from Civil 2015 to Civil 2018, mostly because we keep getting a message 'Drawing is a newer version than you have', from drawings that contractors supply.

Since I connect to SHPs (shapefiles) quite extensively, and I seem to think I read somewhere that newer versions of Civil had dropped the mapping module, I thought I better ask before upgrade.

Does Civil 2018 still let you connect to shapefiles and style/display them as 2015 does (or better)?

Any help/input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mike is right, still there! I can't imagine you'll be disappointed. The biggest thing you may notice is they have come out with the "AutoCAD 2018 drawing.dwg" format, so it defaults to saving as that. You can open the older versions but they will be saved as newer versions unless specified. I have worked with a few styles with .shp files in 2018 and had no issues. Haven't tried with 2015 though. Hope the transfer goes smooth!

~DD
