Error creating survey database

Just recently tried to create a survey database and got the following error message, "The survey database does not exist and could not be recreated". If I go to an old survey database that worked properly in the past I get an error that it is not readable. The survey databases are stored on a shared server, if I set my working to my desktop I get the same error. I'm working on Windows 10 and tried unistalling the SQL server and then re-installing with no changes.

Hard to say without a version of C3D, but you might try the .NET framework as well.

I'm on Civil3D 2017. I did try to repair/reinstall the .NET Framework.

Is there a possibility that the database was opened in C3D2018?

No. I only have 2017 and have not purchase 2018.

OK lets start with a couple of things here.

1. can you create a new database? in the current location set.

2. can you copy the database locally to you C drive and access it?

3. When you looking in your working folder is there a broken pencil symbol, eluding to read-only status?

rl Jackson - 1. No I get the error when I try to create a new SDB.

2. It does appear to work if I copy it to my local c:\ and open it that way.

3. I don't see any broken pencil symbols.

Are there any special characters in your project path?

nope, just numbers and letters example 13517001 SDB

If you can create a database locally - I would start looking at permissions.

I've asked our IT guy and he assures me I have admin rights to all the files. I'm a standalone user and I'm the only one who uses the server. It worked fine last week. Any idea what folders I need the proper permissions for? I've looked and it appears that I have the permissions but maybe I'm missing one. Thanks.

I had this issue on two Windows 7 computers (all of our Windows 10 computers don't have this problem).

I found a clue to my issue on this 2011 Being Civil blog post:

My solution:

Go to my Civil 3D installation image and locate the file: SSCERuntime_x64-ENU.msi

As described in the blog, I ran it and, on the second screen, selected "Repair".

This worked on both of my Win 7 computers.
