Extracting lines from shapefiles with elevations

I have a shapefile I need to get some contour lines out of, and of course all of our GIS guys are out of the office today.

Is there an easy way to do this with AutoCAD? I tried googling it and found some method that had about 20 steps involving queries and I don't know what else, and there has to be an easier way than that. I'm using C3D 2016.

EDIT: Nevermind, I finally found it via the "createsurfacefromgisdata" command, since a surface was what I needed anyway.

First I would try creating a surface directly from the .shp file by using the "Create Surface from GIS Data" command. Once you launch this command it will walk you through the steps to connect to the .shp file.
