Geotechnical Module 2018 - Attribute Data

Is it possible to add attribute data such as GEOL_DESC to the elements using Geotechnical Module 2018? I recall seeing a video saying it is possible using Extended Data/Property Sets but can find any further information in the product documentation/help file.

Any help appreciated.

The geotechnical module adds some imported data as property sets to the 3D borehole and 3D fences, the Geol_desc which is long descriptive text isn't really supported by the geotechnical module.

I will need to do a little investigation but it is feasible a custom log strip could be designed to display the Geol_desc beside the Geol_code graphic. This isn't normally done as the Geol_desc tends to be long and wordy and does not fit well within the log strip.

If you let me know what you're trying to accomplish I will see if there's any other options.

I want to be able to click on the strata in the 3d cylinder and get more information than the GEOL_GEOL field it was created from. This could be top and base depth, but i was really most interested in GEOL_DESC. Ultimately the borehole model will sit within the federated project model in Navisworks alongside the other discipline's model. I would like the geology description and other attributes to be available.
Ive had a look at some of my models and I cant find any data attached to the 3d cyclinder as property sets. Does a template need to be created before the GI data is imported? Is there any documentation about attribute data/property sets using the Geotechnical Module? Thanks

Hi,

I understand, it may be something we look at doing in the future.

We have been developing Keynetix.cloud as a central store to for geotechnical data, the idea is to expose the data to the federated model, our dilemma is we do not what to copy data but link to the original, however having some attributes would be a good idea.

We create the property sets on the fly if they are not found in the drawing. Just to confirm you are using 2018 and it was only introduced in 2018.

At moment the property sets are predefined, however it would be a good idea to be able to define them.
