Object selection based upon property set definitions?

Is it possible to make a selection of objects based on one ore more property set definitions?

Example: all my objects have the property set definition "Phase":

For some of them Phase = 0 and for others Phase = 1. Imagine we have thousands of objects and I would like to select the ones with Phase = 0. Is it possible?

On purpose: any idea to automatizate phasing planing in C3D with this concept?

Hi @Anonymous,

As far as I understand it is not possible in Civil 3D OOTB. For such functionality you need additional application.

Concept of property data is very important, especially in BIM workflow, but in Civil 3D it is not consistently applied.

What a clever idea of object filtering by property data definitions, it would prove useful could it be accomplished. I have investigated your question and I can confirm the reply by @drazen.galic .

Without additional software there does not seem to be a way to select objects via their respective data property sets. If someone finds a way to accomplish this via property data sets while using the Out-Of-The-Box configuration for Civil 3D 20xx, it would be very helpful to share it.

Another idea would be to articulate the project phasing or phase planning through file management by separating the objects via xrefs or data shortcuts, rather than property set definitions.

I am using property sets mainly for corridors, extracted corridor volumes and pipe networks.

Which aditional software do you mind?

The idea with xRef and Shortcuts can not be applied in my case, then I have corridors with elements (...more than one shape...) , which belong to different project phases. Another idea to articulate the project phasing could be the use of different code styles in diferent views - but a little bit unconfortable...:(

For pipe network there is software Urbano Visio. Among other it has flexible and intelligent data grids (panorama views) which enable show of all pipe data, data grid configurations (different data), advanced methods of selection, multiple data edit...

Among other it is possible to show property data in the table, sort, search, export via copy/paste and make AutoCAD selection. I made the video for you, which is available on YouTube channel:
