Senior CAD Manager here just had the same problem here. File he was previously working on. In the same project, the other files are fine and he hasn't had any problems opening them, but one file will crash. on his computer. Other people can open the file no problem. He can also open and save the file on another computer with his profile. We don't have local administrative rights, so it's hard to do any forensics ourselves, but I am suspecting a header error that is reading something in his registry possibly? Not sure how to fix it, though..

I am having difficulty opening certain drawing files. This morning, I cannot open a file I was working on last night. When I double click the file or even if I open C3D first and then select the file I want to open, the program loads some of the toolbars or the blank "drawing 1" file and then gets hung up. I have to open the task manager and use "end task" to close the program. I've also tried opening a blank drawing and attempting to recover the file, but again the program crashes.

This seems to be a recurring problem with only certain files. Most dwg files open normally; but once I have trouble opening a drawing I continue to run into issues with the drawing even after resaving it with a different name.

The only thing that seems to work is sending the file to my coworker via email, having her open it (which she does with no trouble), resave it and send it back to me.

Any ideas why this is happening??

Have you tried doing a repair or reinstallation of the cad software to eliminate errors that may be caused from a corrupted profile?
