Elevation Ranges Creation

I have successfully created a TIN Volume Surface, however, when I go to the "Run Analysis" button under the Surface Analysis tab nothing shows up under ranges, elevation, color scheme, etc. I am not sure what I am missing. I am using number of ranges and was thinking I would be able to set my ranges once I ran the analysis, but no ranges are created, and the surface is not visible either.

You need to use the tools there to add ranges under the surface analysis tab. Here is an example:

Hi Heidi,
Did you turn on "Elevations" in your surface style? Please post your drawing.

These are my steps and settings so far. When I took the comparison photo on the surface analysis page, I had just pressed Run Analysis and nothing had shown up.

Heidi,
When you hit the "Run Analysis" button, the ranges should have populated. If Surface1 and Surface2 don't overlap, you won't have a Volume Surface.

As Dave has said, you need to press that "Run Analysis" button (downward facing arrow) to populate the the Range Details based on the data in the surface. If no ranges are created then it means you surface has no data. This could be for a number of reasons. (surfaces don't overlap, one of the surfaces in the comparison has no data, etc.)

The two surfaces overlap but not visibly in Civil. Do I need to have them overlapped in the program? They are LiDAR images of the same spot overtime.

Can you post your drawing, and the 2 point clouds?

This is what the two surfaces look like. In real life, they overlap and are of the same area. My question is do I need to make them overlap in Civil?

I believe the issue I am having is because of this or some form of missing data, however, I do not have enough knowledge to fix that myself.

Your screen shot shows 2 distinct surfaces that do not overlap.

Hello,

for Civil 3d to calculate a volume the surfaces MUST overlap.

otherwise, there is no volume to be calculated.

once both surfaces are in the same coordinate system and overlap,

you can calculate a volume difference between the 2 surfaces.

As several said, its only going to calculate where the surfaces overlap. If the FG goes outside of the EG surface, no volume is calculated.
