Sounds like there may be something wrong with the drawing. I'd either recreate it or try insert a already scaled version into the drawing.

So I've run into a problem the last day or two with Autocad Civil 3D 2019 that I cant seem to figure out how or why its happened.

I have a drawing where we have done our boundary work in a ground coordinate system. We have some reference files that are in a grid system. However when I try an xref the reference file in and tell autocad to scale the reference file up to match using the inverse of the scale factor Autocad gives me an error telling me that I am using an "Invalid Scale Factor. Please enter non-zero numbers" - even though I am very clearly using a scale factor that is greater then 1

If i try and bring the xref in as a block and then scale it up afterwards using the scale command - i get an error saying that I require a numeric distance, second point, or option keyword when I tell it scale the object up using 0,0 as a base point and 1.000264069714405‬ as my scale factor. (See Command History Below)

Command: SCALE 1 found

Specify base point: 0,0

Specify scale factor or [Copy/Reference]: 1.000264069714405‬

Requires numeric distance, second point, or option keyword.

Specify scale factor or [Copy/Reference]: *Cancel*

Any idea as to what happened to cause me to suddenly be unable to scale?

If your going from grid to ground your scale factor should probably be 1.0026..........

It is - you just cant see the 1 with the window at that size

Its the same scale factor that is shown in the command history below the image

My apologies, didn't catch the last paragraph. That's quite odd. Do you have all updates installed? Have you tried to recover/audit the drawing? Does this happen if you start a new drawing using the NCS template?

Have run both recover and audit - no luck there.

It scales fine in a new drawing using the base autocad template

Hi,

I ran into something similar today. My program inserts blocks at the current DIMSCALE... when this problem isn't interfering with it. I've never seen this in the couple of decades I've been using my program but I found the solution to my problem. I came to the forums to find a programming solution to avoid this problem altogether... I'll post a new thread in Customization for that. The cause of my problem is at least one Annotative Dimstyle. Making it (or them?) NOT Annotative fixed my problem.

Annotative Dimstyles are the cause

Unchecking Annotative fixes the problem
