Custom Linetype within STB

Hello,

When using an STB, there are a limited number of linetypes available to select as an override to the object's linetype.

I am curious on how I would go about setting a plot style to use a custom linetype rather than one of the preset ones. I'd like to do this without changing the object's linetype to the desired plotted linetype.

Looking for where an STB pulls it's linetypes from.

Thank you!!

Those are hard coded, there are no custom lines available.

I don't see a real advantage to doing that now at all, if you do I'm very curious why.

I have always wondered about that functionality and why it was in the software in the first place. Maybe this is a holdover from when computers had fewer capabilities, so instead of rendering the linetype in the drawing just do it when you plot.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for posting. For AutoCAD plot styles (STB files), Rick is correct that there are typically a limited number of preset linetypes available. If you have flexibility in your workflow, consider using Color-dependent plot style tables (CTB) instead of STB. CTB allows more direct control over how different colors plot, including custom linetypes.

Sorry, I couldn't be of much help.

Let us know if you need clarification or require additional assistance.
