Pressure Part ID Material

The ID Material in a pressure parts catalog for DIP is shown as ductile iron.

Does anyone know how to change the ductile iron ID material to DI or create a new one?

Simply, you can edit the pipe default description before network creation so that the material as attached

@Anonymous , that is correct, but it uses the Description field, and sometimes we want the description to be something different. The description could be a note that applies to that pipe for some other reason.

Plus it means a lot of pipe catalog editing that shouldn't be necessary.

The only way I have found to modify this list is to do it manually by editing the pipe material *.xml. Below are instructions on how I do this:

To Add Pipe Material to Civil 3D (Manually) – Current Pipe Material choices are stored in *.xml file in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 2019\enu\Pipes Catalog folders. The one we currently use is in the sub-folder “US Imperial Pipes” and is named “AeccSharedPropertyLists.xml”. Do not try to edit if in use due to AutoCAD being open. RC file > Open with Notepad > Around Line 12 you should see the list of current Pipe Materials, so simply copy one of these current lines and paste it to the bottom of said list, renumber, and rename to desired material.

@rayford.henderson , I just realized you are thinking about the Pipes Catalog, not Pressure Pipes.

Pressure pipes are a SQlite database.

I used DB Browser for SQLite and edited the WA_MATERIAL_TBD table to add materials proper to our region.

And i know how to do the same for gravitary pipes.

Can you elaborate on how you did it?

I was able to edit the database, the edits show up in the Catalog Content Editor, but when I make a new Parts List, the edits don't show.

I know I'm looking at the correct database.

I added 2 row of values in the WA_MATERIAL_TBD table with a SQL query

For the ID's i simply incremented the last real material in the list.
Not the 2 last ID's in the 1000xx numbers, those 2 are the max limit and i didnt had success creating them over that

I think i've assigned a 87 and 88 id to them

Afterwards, you save the sqlite, re open the c3d, make sure you point to the correct catalogue.

Note : If you have several .sqlite lets say you made a copy to not overwrite it or keep a copy; put it somewhere else than that folder. I didnt see my changes until i removed and rename my modified sqlite to match the original catalogue.

That is exactly what I did.

When I open the database in Content Catalog Editor, I see this

When I see my catalog location in C3D to this new location, and make a Parts List, I see this:

Should be DIP for pipe

Should be DI for Elbows

I can make a pressure network with those parts, but when I look at the part properties, the ID Material is blank.

An ideas?

The attached PDF provides the answer you're looking for. I thought it had been published by Autodesk as a technical support article, but I couldn't find it.

@CADmgrMike At first that happened to me then i renamed my .sqlite from removing the "- copy.sqlite" and having it the same name has it's directory and it worked.

I tried that and I still can't get the Id Material to change from ductile iron to DIP.

I changed the Id Material from 'ductile iron' to 'DIP' in the WA_MATERIAL_TBD table , row 22

then went to the WA_PIPE_MODEL and all Id Materials are set to "22"

Swapped a pipe from the catalog to reload it and the Id material is still ductile iron

I was able to change the description fields in the WA_PIPE_MODEL table from ductile iron to DIP

Those fields are updating, but not the Id Material field.

Is there a similar command to PARTCATALOGREGEN for pressure pipes? Is there a hidden field in one of the tables for the Imperial_AWWA_Pushon.sqlite database that has the Id Material to correctly change all pipes/fitting/appurtenances from 'ducitle iron' to DIP?

Let me know if I'm missing a step or...two.

You tried what? The PDF I attached on 10-10-2024 is Autodesk's instructions and worked when I posted that.
