I created a pipe network using our company's pipe catalog, which has 7 different pipe categories and 12 different structure categories. However, in the Network Layout Tools, when I hit the structure drop down list to choose a part, the only part showing is a Null Structure, and the pipe drop down list has just 4 pipes to choose from, and they aren't even the same as the pipe catalog. What gives?

Also check you have the correct part list for your network. The part list will determine which of those 12 structures and 7 pipe types are used for your network.

Thanks for responding. I have triple-checked that I'm indicating the correct parts list. The list has all the structures and pipes we use. We just installed 2020, so it's probably not pointing to the right folder(s). However, I have executed the Set Pipe Network Catalog to where the parts list is located, but still don't get any of the parts showing up when I try to create or edit a network.

Parts List and Parts Catalog are two different things.

You create a Parts List in your drawing, or template file, from parts available in the Parts Catalog. You can have multiple Parts Lists within one drawing file and use them for different networks. The Parts Lists do not need to include every parts in the catalog nor every size available for that part.

The problem was solved when we looked at the Imperial Pipe and the Imperial Structure folders and determined that, when we installed C3D 2020, the folders were not populated with all of the necessary files. Once those files were placed in the proper folders, all was solved.

Mark,

I have a problem where i made changes to my pipe network catalog, which we have stored on a mapped network drive and it does not reflect in dref drawings? I recently needed to use "part size name" component in the label composer for a CMP Arched pipe. The CAD default part name had concrete within the name even though my pipe part was in the "Corrugated Metal Pipe Horizontal Arch pipe category". I used Part Builder to change the name so that i could make my label correctly indicate that is a corrugated metal arched pipe. This changed the label in my CIV_DSN drawing but not the LYOUT_dwg which has pipe network dfref'd into it. Doesn't the changes to the master pipe network drawing (CIV_DSN) reflect to the dref drawing (LYOUT_dwg)?
