Extract PNEZD data from feature lines?

A contractor has asked that I provide him with the PNEZD file of our proposed grading plan. I primarily use feature lines for grading and after a lot of research was unable to find a way of extracting point elevation data from the surface. Does anyone know of a solution for this?

I have tried:

Extract object for the points on the surface contours, but nothing happens after C3D runs the extract object command.
Copying data from the elevation editor, but with approximately 300 feature lines, this is not an efficient method.
Extracting to DEM and KMZ files, but something goes wrong. The DEM file is a jumble of numbers that are unusable and the KMZ puts my site in the middle of the San Francisco harbor.

@jessica_zia you say that contractor want PNEZD file from you and you also have a surface in civil 3D.

so then, you can do like this as following

1. create point on surface by several way such as random, grid, along contour line and so on.

2. then after you have point group, then you can export this point group into several format such as PNEZD (space delimited)

Modern survey controllers can stake linework imported from DXF files, etc. If the contractor is wanting the info for staking, consider just giving the linework vs. creating COGO points.

What sort of project is this? Solar field, residential lots, a road?

Which command are you running? In your surface style do you have points turned on?

Did you export as a Tiff?

Hi,

There are several ways to do it.

If you go with Surface Creation method, you can use the following videos.

Video 2

Another method is to covert all feature line to 3D polylines. If you simply explode the FLs, they will become 3D polylines.

To get points from 3D polylines you can use the following method.

First, automate point creation with the settings described in THIS video.

Then use THIS video to create points from 3D polylines.

I hope you know how to export points to a csv.

Are you looking for elevations on the surface or do you want to extract the vertices of the Featurelines?

If you want the vertices. Explode them to 3D Polylines and use DATAEXTRACTION.

In Project Explorer you can quickly copy and paste into Excel to quickly create CSV files.
