we got new computers and Civil 3D was reinstalled from original disk. Now we have to reset all preferences etc...My 1st problem is getting the middle "mouse wheel" to act as a zoom without using another button...right now we use the left mouse button and the shift key to get mouse zooming, but it is really different from what the other guys and myself are used to...I did get pan re-associated with holding down the wheel. thanks for your time.

I've tried checking every box in "opions" display...still nothing...I am thinking it is connecsted to the regular mouse button preferences outside od ACAD in the desktop.;..a combination of the 2 places

If your mouse wheel (in windows) is set to use "Smart Zoom" or something
like that, zooming won't work i AutoCAD. Set the middle button to just
plain old middle button.
How about the 'mbuttonpan' variable? Set it to the opposite of the current value.
