F1 Front Wing - How to visualize Air Flow? [Help]

Hi,

I'm 18 years old and I'm new in CFD, I'm doing a school work.

I downloaded this front wing 3D model (.stp) but I don't know how to visualize his air flow.

Can someone help me?

Hello,

Did you run a simulation ?

you can't visualize if you don't start a simulation, in your model don't have any material assigned. This make me think that you didn't solve anything. To do so you should :
1. assign material on every part of your model

2. assign boundary condition on surface of your model

3. assign a mesh (i will say start with autosize)

4. specify the solver setting and then solve.

I tried but I don't think that works.

Graph and table are empty and the results show 0m/s velocity.

I think a made a mistake with boundary condition, can you please explain me how to assing it?

Hi @Anonymous,

You don't have a bounding box. You have no air volume around the solid. You need to add a bounding box of air by drawing it in CAD.

I suggest going through the tutorial models so you have a better understanding of how to use the software.

Hello,

you need to define an air volume around your front wing. What you looking for is probably the velocity profile as well as the pressure distribution in the neighborhood of your wing.

1. go to geometry tool (strumenti geometrici) and create an external volume (4 th tab from the left)

2. in ''materiali tab'' assign a material on your new volume. It's probably air that you need.

3. For the boudary condition what you need is a velocity and a pressure BC to simulate the air flow.

velocity should be ahead of your wing and pressure (P=0) should be downstream of you model.

Try this it should work.

I created an air volume and assigned boundary conditions but it appears that the air flow is blocked outside the volume.

Any suggestion?

can you share the cfz.file ?

une need to specify the right direction of the flow/velocity. it should enter in the box.

Your setup look okay,

i still dont understand ''air flow is blocked outside the volume.'' but it may refer at the way you look at the result.

use the plane and ajust the velocity scaling and the color should be present.

However several point

1. Place your front wing in the center of the air volume

2. supress the mesh of your front wings
