Hello,

Can we export model or geometry from autodesk Robot to CFD? Also please give me some idea about interaction between Autodesk CFD and Robot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Ashish

Hi @Anonymous

The use of CFD analysis in Robot is to run sort of the "virtual" wind tunnel analysis for wind load generation for a structure model created in RSA for further design of its elements such as beams, columns, walls etc. To do so in the background of the program the Wind Simulation module generates a "temporary"solid model of the structure having its outer shape" as well as the "air" around it. The determined wind load pressure acting on such model is then converted into actual loads on the elements of the 'actual" Robot model and after this is done the 'temporary' CFD model is gone. If you need it e.g. to run some additional simulation in e.g. Autodesk CFD you can save it but it is not the 'exact' model of e.g. a building but its "outer shape" solid representation instead.

Hi Artur,

Thanks for your response! Can we calculate external wind loading, fatigue and vibration on a particular surface of a building using Autodesk CFD?

Best Regards,
Ashish

Hi @Anonymous

It is out of my knowledge zone. Your question has to be answered by one of my colleagues supporting CFD however I'm happy to help if you have any Robot related one

Hi Artur,

Actual I am not familiar with Robot. I have a analysis which is done in Robot but now I have to do it in CFD. That's why I was asking wheatear it is possible to export geometry or may be some more information from Robot to Autodesk CFD.

Best Regards

Hi @Anonymous

The 'wind simulation' model generated for the wind load generation in Robot can be exported in the way shown below but I can't tell if this is what would be sufficient for you for your detailed analysis in CFD.

Mind that you need to have both RSA and CFD installed on the same computer to be able to use this functionality.
