Hello Guys, I'm part of a Formula 1 in schools team where my job is simulating our cars aerodynamics.

I've already done simulations in with the car not moving and air moving at a speed of 20m/s, which worked great.

Now im trying to have the air not moving while the car moves at a certain speed, but when i hit "Start", after a short time I get the "Solver has exited unexpectedly" Error message.

Heres the data for the cars movement:

Does anyone have experience for this and can help me out? I'll provide more screenshots if needed.

I'd be really happy if somebody could tell me whats going wrong!

Alexander Strauss

Hello Alex.

In overall static aerodynamic simulation should be enough if you want to check the Drag Lift etc.

The Motion analysis in most cases is used to check the influence of moving objects on the environment, during the movement object change position, there are no wall layers and in the effect, the results will be much less accurate.

In my opinion, you should leave the simulation as static, eventually, if you want to check the fluctuation you could run it as transient analysis.

Probably the error is connected with the mesh definition, and also you should turn off cyclical in the Motor definition, probably the Car wants to go only in one direction, not as an oscillator.

If you need assistance, please attach the CFZ file.

Best Regards,
Karol

Thank you for your anwer! I think you are right, static simulation makes more sense for only one model.
