Assertion Failed

When attempting to export any planes, traces, etc. I receive an Assertion Failed error as below:

If you click Abort or Retry the program will crash and give you the option to send an error report. If you click ignore, you receive this error:

If you click ignore again, it simply loops back to the original error message. I have clicked this many times and it's a continuous loop by the way. This error is occurring in all my design studies now, so I don't believe it is a local simulation file issue. Also it's probably worth noting that when investigating, I noticed that when trying to export an .fbx file, just before the error message appears, a file appears in the scenario folder called _xxx.vtfx. Unfortunately this file is encoded and I have no idea what it contains. I've attached it to this post incase it's relevant.

Anyone got any ideas before I reinstall Flex again?

Hello Matthew,

Assersion errors like the ones you are experiencing were reported in Autodesk CFD version 2016. The issue has been fixed for version 2017.

Sometimes if you click on ignore a number of times it will go away but this does not seem to be the case for you.

Upgrading to CFD 2017 is the best thing to do.

VTFx files are 3-D images of simulation results as explained here.

It certainly would not hurt to re-install but I don't think it will solve the issue.

You were correct Marwan, it did not fix the issue. After re-installing, I can't even open my design study without receiving this error. However, I can now open and export fbx files on previous design studies I have done now. Therefore I believe this error I ran into has tainted the design study in some way. I fear this may be yet another restart my design study from scratch disaster.

For anyone who receives this error when attempting to export an fbx using the exporter Add-In in CFD Flex 2016:

Autodesk have stated that there is no solution for this other than downloading Flex 2017 where the issue has been resolved.

If you are still on 2016 like myself then I fixed this by:

1. Reinstalling Flex 2016. (remember your flags and other settings when doing this)

2. Restarting my design study from scratch. (re-import your model and set up the conditions as previously).

I realise this is a horrible solution but in the end it was the only thing that worked. Any design studies you try and open after running into this error may break the design study, so I suggest avoiding this.

I hope this helps.
