Hi there,

I am using Fusion 360 to design the models , but i am not sure how to export my model to Autodesk CFD.

to run a thermal fluid simulation. for example i draw heat exchanger model by fusion 360, and want to

expert the properties of a fluid flow inside this model using CFD.

is this possible and how ?

thanks

I would export as sat or step.

Then, within CFD, go to 'new' and read it in 🙂

Hi @eng.abass5,

Were you finally able to import your CAD model into CFD while exporting it from Fusion as. step or. sat?

please let us know 🙂

Thanks

Actually this not the point,
But i am not sure if the module that is imported from fusion will have the real properties and if the simulation results true or not , specially if the modul is complecated ?

CFD just sees CAD models as dumb volumes initially - so all properties need to be assigned within the CFD interface.

Does that help to answer your question?

If not, could you rephrase the question as I am not sure I understood.

Thanks!

got it, thanks, Jon .

so if i draw for example .. channels between 2 plates using fusion 360, and open

the file in the CFD , the software can understand that there is a channels or spaces between

the plates, and can let any fluid to flow inside the channels?

sorry i have other question, if you notes attached photo you

can see some notifications in the left side ( yallow color ), do the mean some thing wrong ?

Do not worry about those yellow exclamation points. As you can see on the side, it just means those feature do not exist in the CAD therefore the model assessment toolkit skips them.

Thanks,

Thanks Matt,

sorry, but i have many to ask about.

Now, which is better for modeling mechanical devices like heat exchangers fusion 360 or inventor?

That is an interesting question :). It's really up to which the user has more experience/proficient with. Both would be fine for modeling mechanical devices including heat exchangers.

Thanks,
