Is this issue already solved? I also need videos with a higher resolution since 640x480 is definitely not state of the art.

The suggested workflow of setting the static image resolution size to a higher resolution size doesn’t work for me either with CFD2019.2. But it could also be an issue of CFD2019.2 since this version is very buggy.

I was trying to put together a video using the save animation tool in CFD but I could not get the resolution to go above 640X480. I changed the resolution to 1920X1080 underneath the static image button located in the results tab. Despite this the AVI files produced still come out at 640X480.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for reaching out 🙂

Currently, the video resolution created by CFD is limited to 640X480 and it cannot be improved.

Our Developers are at the moment working on improving it to much better resolution for future versions.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Please developers sort this out. 640x480 (VGA) resolution, something we were using 35 years ago; developed for the IBM PS/2, is just not acceptable. It can't be used on a professional website or even a school powerpoint presentation - it's just useless. My daughter's school laptop is 1920x1080. It's just not the mark of a professional product.

We are coming up on EIGHT YEARS where we were told the developers were working to make this better, and in CFD 2026, it is still broken.

When will this be updated to actually WORK the way the documentation SAYS it works??

That’s a common quirk in CFD—changing the static image resolution doesn’t affect the animation export. The Save Animation tool is locked to 640×480 unless you use an external screen-capture or post-processing tool. If you need full HD, exporting image sequences instead of an AVI and stitching them together usually works best.
