@thavasimanis, you've encountered one of numerous situations on ACC/BIM360 where there is no perfect solution. At least, in my experience.

There are a few points to understand:

There are 3 ways to upload models;

Workshared models

Called Revit Cloud Worksharing

Uploaded through Revit

Linked as an External Resource (i.e BIM 360)

Non-workshared models

Called Cloud Models for Revit

Uploaded through Revit

Linked as an External Resource (i.e BIM 360)

Non/Workshared models not uploaded through Revit

Instead, they are uploaded through the Desktop Connector or the web UI

Linked via the Desktop Connector

With the above options 1a and 1b, nested links do not publish in ACC/BIM 360. You have to do single level linking.
Linked cloud workshared Revit models do not appear after publishing a model to BIM 360 Docs | BIM 360 | Autodesk Knowledge Network

To see the nested models in Revit, you will need to set it to be Attached. I really don't do enough Cloud model linking (1a/1b above) to comment further, but I do have situations for 1c (such as for IFCs) that work with mixed results.

In my opinion, the many different permutations that files can be uploaded to ACC/BIM360 and linked is one of it's greatest weaknesses. And even if you do understand it completely, then there are still many limitations to overcome.

My hope is that Autodesk is working to alleviate this confusion.

I have two models "A" and "B" in BIM360. I have linked model "B" with model "A". I have linked it through the desktop connector. But when the model "A" is viewed through BIM360, the linked model "B" not visible.

I have read an article that says, "the model need to be linked through the "EXTERNAL RESOURCE" tab instead of DESKTOP CONNECTOR. But the is no model is showing in the same location in External Resource. The locations are same in both "EXTERNAL RESOURCE" & "DESKTOP CONNECTOR". But model "B" is available in DESKTOP CONNECTOR to link but no model shows in EXTERNAL RESORCE location.

Pls help me to fix this issue.

Thanks in Advance

STM

why linked with desktop connector? couldn't you linked it in bim360?

you wont see the link once publish, because your link is on your desktop or private server.

@thavasimanis BIM 360 or ACC does not support viewing of non-cloud-workshared files or non-cloud models linked through Desktop Connector. So if the files were dragged and dropped on BIM 360, they will not appear under Manage Links > External Resources. This means the only way you can link them is via the Desktop Connector. But that kind of linking is not supported for viewing on BIM360 or ACC.

The only way to have the model appear there is to open it in Revit and Save it as a Cloud Model or initiate Cloud Worksharing model and then link via the Manage Links > External Resources location.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Revit models still need to be saved as cloud models. Drag and drop is not the proper way to upload them.
