AutoDesk Desktop Connector - Automatically download to connector

Is there a way to have all the files/folders in our BIM 360 docs download locally? We've had employees go offline and notice directories empty because nothing was downloaded locally.

Hi Tom,

The users can right-click the connected folder and select Download.

This will download all files from the folder to your local drive.

Thank you Luciane,

We were hoping for an automated download process but it doesn't look like it is available. Right-clicking and downloading projects works fine but we had a situation a couple weeks ago where the internet was down due to the weather and didn't have a chance to download project folders beforehand.

Is there any development underway to allow for automated local sync'ing of BIM360 through Autodesk Desktop Connector. My office is looking to create an automated, local back-up of our active BIM360 projects for redundant data security.

Hi, I think what you need is an app.

Go to Account Admin > Apps tab. There are some there that will possibly do what you need.

At this time, Desktop Connector will only sync files that are included in an operation such as file open, DWG link, syncing and so on. It won't download files that are not "needed" for an operation.

It is disappointing that Autodesk does not provide an effective solution for what should be a relatively simple automation process. I have looked for solutions to this through BIM360 Design Collaboration, Document Management and directly through the Desktop Connector directly to no avail.

Is there a feature request that has already been created for similar features?

Does Autodesk have any recommended apps that would accomplish this task?

I have found an idea logged a while back covering your request.

I personally haven't used any, so can't recommend. But this is the best place to ask, as forum users are happy to share their experiences.

I am sorry but I don't know about any plans to have such feature, but I suggest voting up on the idea so that it gathers attention from our development team.
