I was able to solve the issue. Still it seems a bit buggy because even with the template (ground_mist) sometimes it seems to work and sometimes it doesn't. I had a typo in the Settings>Properties which i was not able to make out earlier. By correcting it now it works.

Thank you for your replies and your help! Much appreciated!

Hello,

I was trying to cache a Bifrost Aereo simulation using the "ground_mist" preset from the Bifrost_Browser which I tweaked in order to fit my requirements. I cached the simulation (bob cache) as described in the following tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=304&v=4jDeRVBTpGg.

After caching the simulation, I switched the file_cache node to “Read Mode” but the cached simulation doesn’t show up in the viewport (nothing visible). In the Script Editor I keep getting the following warning: // Warning: Cannot draw an object with no points.

What could I possible have done wrong/where could the issue be?

Thank you in advance!

Windows 10 Build 17763

Maya 2019.2

Bifrost Version 2.0.2.0

TR 1950X

32 GB RAM

RTX 2080 - 430.86 Studio Driver

Silly question, did you set the file_cache node to "write" to a directory and hit play the entire timeline once? When finished and before anything, did you switch the same node to "read"?

That is exactly what I did. I chached the whole animation, just to be sure that there is not any bug related with it. I cached the whole animation in write mode and switched to read mode afterwards. When im playing the animation after setting it to "read mode" it tells me the following:

// Warning: Cannot draw an object with no points.

// Warning: Bifrost: Failed to convert output port 'diagnostic_strands' of type 'array'.

I really dont know what else I could try. I also created a new file using the template !ground_mist! from the Bifrost_Browser without changing anything. The first time it worked. Then i re-cached it again then i had the same issue again also with the ground_mist template.

I just tried this on my side on Mac using the example graph ground_mist from Bifrost Browser, I can write and read bob cache successfully.

Can you see the cache files in the folder after caching?

Please make sure the target folder is writable.

If it still doesn't work for you, could you please attach the Maya scene so I can give a try?

I went to the same issue keep on trying to search the resolution on internet and the solution was right in front of me in bifrost itself ..... if you create a new node "file cache" you can see it is named in format of "Name.####.bob". .... here #### is provided as cache frame number to be automatically added to cached file. i mean to say when you specify the location and file name in cache node just add ".####" in the end of the name. it will help the cache node to see where it has to put frame number as #### is replaced by the frame number. hope this helps. if it helps plz do let me know at p.s.arora123@hotmail.com
