Again, I ask for help.

I have been following the four part Maya Learning Channel's "Creating an Ocean" tutorial. Everything works fine until I get to adding a boat to get a wake. I have tried it several times with different wave height, generator amplitude and wind settings and different size collision objects and every time my ocean just explodes. I am sure it is pilot error, but it is odd that up to this point I get the exact results in the tutorial for my ocean. I include a screenshot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Even if I download the original tutorial Maya files themselves and hit play, the ocean explodes. The tutorial is from five years ago, this happens in Maya 2022 and Maya 2023 on a 16 core PC. Could something about Bifrost have changed since then?

Hi morten.bojsen-hansen,

Thank you so much for responding.

I do not have permissions to attach my file, but if you go to the Maya Learning Channel tutorial here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-8ow82gQw8&t=185s

You can download their files. If you open

HTM_BOSS_Ocean_part4_end.ma

You will find the same problem, or should at least. No matter what numbers I plug into the BossGeoProperties1 of the BossWaveSolver1, the ocean explodes. If I disable the Generator, the ocean does not explode, which makes me think the problem is there.

Thanks again.

Best,

Mike

I would do this in the graph nowadays. It's faster and procedural. Which also makes it easier to debug
