Welp, saw this today.

The multi-user means a network (flexlm run) seat.

Conversation we missed at adesk:

"Hey guys, what the heck are you offering 3 year deals for when we want to eliminate flexlm run seats?"

response:

"Oh no, we get that, its why we are raising prices on network seats so high they won't be worth it."

Me:

Autodesk, if you are going after large customers with big money, why do you want to bury CAD Managers with per-user access administration? Can't we just pay you a boat load of money and have it easy on our end?

It's a shame. FlexLM run seats have basically been the only stable licensed product since M2S. It'll be interesting to see what happens moving forward for customers with lots of seats, who don't want to spend 87 years assigning multiple products to thousands of users. Hopefully torches and pitchforks go on sale soon.

Not to mention lots of customers such as government organisations who cannot/don't want to allow their users Internet access for security reasons.

Good point. Its like the Adesk CEO's want it to be all simple, and just said if Adobe can do it so can we.

That word simple comes to mind too much on this subject.

I am not too happy about this. Sounds like a great thing for AD though. Reduce the product offering AND increase revenue. Now thats a win-win.

When you hear the words "for an improve experience...." be warned, the real reason is NOT for a better user experience.
