Can not add Start Point

Every time I try adding a start point, I get this error message;

Failed to add start point. Start point exists for line.
Failed to add Iso Item.

Doing a web search I came up with this as the "solution";

However the file never has had a start point. I've ran a qselect to see if the "ACPPDB3DISOSTARTPOINTSYMBOL" even exists in the file. And of course it doesn't, since one was never added.

So how do you FORCE a start point into your models when the software refuses to allow you to add one?

If you start a new file, does the problem exist?

If you are in a different file where you know for sure there is no start point for a pipe line, does it work?

Your P3D year version as listed in the program's ABOUT command is...?

When I create a new drawing, copy all the elements into it, it allows one to be added.

As soon as I change the line number from "Unassigned" to the actual line number, the start point automatically deletes, and can't be added in again, and for some reason can't be purged out completely (it can't even be found in the model).

Thanks for asking that, as it narrows down where the issue may be - possibly the database. Which is unfortunate as the CAD Manager is hesitant to clean it, due to the way the project evolved. So many things were built incorrectly that when he came on board 5 years after the project started, he rebuilt the specs the best he could without forcing an entire redraw of everything. We're nearing the finish line and he doesn't want to break the entire project while we're cutting ISOs.

Every other line so far has not had an issue (at least as far as I know).

The project dictates the version of Plant that we have to use;

Product Version: T05301.1 Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D 2023.0.1

Built on: T.181.0.0 AutoCAD 2023.1.4

If you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. If not, I'll talk to the Process Engineer to see if we can get a new line number to use in place of this one.

Hello

In fact, when you assign or change the line number, the original annotation is not deleted, but changes scale.
The annotation symbol becomes very small.
Either you zoom out the area and delete the annotation, or use the quick selection to search for starting annotations to view their positions and/or delete them.

En fait lorsque vous attribuez ou changez le numéro de ligne, l'annotation de départ ne se supprime pas mais change d'échelle.
Le symbole d'annotation devient très petit.
Soit vous zommez la zone et supprimez l'annotation, soit vous vous servez de la sélection rapide pour rechercher les annotations de départ pour visualiser leurs positions et/ou les supprimer.

As I mentioned in the original post, when running qselect, there is no "ACPPDB3DISOSTARTPOINTSYMBOL" even available.

But I will look all over the entire line to see if there is a tiny version of the symbol hiding somewhere.

I just checked the model again. There is absolutely no start point, even a tiny one.

Hello

In fact you cannot have several starting annotations placed on the same line number.
Therefore check if your line, due to its number, is not represented on several DWG files. On one of the files you should find a starting annotation. You can use Quick Select to locate these annotations in the current drawing.

En fait vous ne pouvez pas avoir plusieurs annotations de départ placées sur le même numéro de ligne.
De ce fait vérifiez si votre ligne, de part son numéro, n'est pas représentée sur plusieurs fichiers DWG. Sur un des fichiers vous devriez y trouver une annotation de départ. Vous pouvez vous servir de la sélection rapide pour localiser ces annotations dans le dessin courant.

So how do you check all lines in and entire project to see if it has the wrong line number attached to it (or a single/couple of items have the wrong line number)?

I've tried using the Data Manager, but the search results are way off.

One way is to create a Navisworks file with all of your drawings (if you don't already have one) and search for items with the line number.
