Long description Edit in Catalog

Is there a way to rename the long description for the whole catalog? I have read that it is very risky to manual change the descriptions in the spec editor. The call outs would need to be exported to reports and iso's. Is there any safe or easy way to get this done?

When you say "the whole catalog", do you mean all the different component sizes for a particular part in the catalog?

If so you can easily do this my exporting and importing from excel.

Filter the catalog by the part you want to change.
Export the current part out of the catalog editor and into excel. (See the little green excel icons at the top)
Open the excel file and copy and paste the long description all the way down the column for all the sizes.
Save the file.
Then Import the excel file back into the catalog.
Accept all changes, be sure to have the folder expanded.
Save to Catalog will complete the process.

Note I would only do this once I made a duplicate of the original catalog item. That way you have a clean version of the catalog part to go back to just in case something goes wrong.

Great advice! I ended up using the "edit long description" function and editing the parts list to further achieve my issue.
