topic Betreff: Adding EndConnections to "piping specility items" class? in AutoCAD Plant 3D Forum

Dear @gooana ,

Of course it is possible to add a selection list in another class, but this is only created manually and does not work as in the HandValves class.
This is due to the hard-coded programming because in HandValves the EndConnetion accesses the block list.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to access the EndConnection block list from other classes.
The EndConnection selection list in the HandValves class is a system property and cannot be copied or set up in other classes.
With the variant described by @kosur a new selection list is added and I get the text displayed in the properties but unfortunately not the functionality as it is shown in the class HandValves.

Adding EndConnections to "piping specility items" class?

Dear,

I want to put "EndConnections" to flexible hose in the "piping specility items" class, which means that I can choose flange/socket/socket welded etc to flexible hose symble by clicking mouse right click. However, on the project setup, I cannot find any selection list about it. Is there any method to do it?

I mean, because some special items have similar connection type as hand valve, I want to put same end connection functionality of hand valve. Of cause, I can make "my flexible hose" symbol in the hand valve class, but I think it is not the best solution.

Thank you in advance.

It looks like this is not possible because the system property "EndConnections" is only available for handvalves and cannot be created in another class because the list is not selectable.
But to be on the safe side, I'll check with the programmers.

For example, I deleted linked dwg number text and I want to put it again.

Thanks.

But, my question was "how I can add end connection property" to the speciality item, not end connection class itself. Your suggestion seems simply creating another end connection class.

For example, I made flexible hose class in the pipe speciality item class. As you know, hose connection may have flange or socket as its ends like valve connections.

As previous suggestion, I made it in the valve class, not specility item and it worked well. 🙂

It was exactly what you were asking for - adding EndConnection property to the Piping Specialty Items class, it is clearly visible on the attached picture.

Of course you can create flexible hose class under Hand Valves, as you did and it will work fine. I'm just presenting another solution which works as well (I did it in my project, because I needed flanged connection for expantion joints) 😉

In original block it looks like this:

Edit the names by adding ":EndCode0" to attachment point 1 and ":EndCode180" to the second one. You can check how it looks like in Hand Valves class blocks, for example:

Now everything should work 🙂

I knew it. But as h.eger commented, EndConnections what I wanted was hard-coded to hand valve class, your suggestion does not work if I want to select it from the context menu - I mean, when you select any type of ends to it, symbol is changed - from flange to socket like that. Your method is just store end connection information and does not affect to the symbol changes. Anyway, thanks again. 🙂

Oh, That is really I wanted.

The problem was that I could not select the "EndConnections" on the
selection list box because mine did not have it.

What did I missed? I exactly followed your steps - adding new property with
the name of "EndConnections" and specified the "selection list", but the
mine of step 4 does not have "EndConnections"

Hi @gooana,

I had the same problem with step 4 but here's the solution:

When adding the property EndConnections just use any existing picklist or - as I did because I had the specific one also not show like in @kosur reply - create a new one called EndConnections1 (because ACADP3D will not let you chose the same picklist name even though the real EndConnections is not show in the Picklist selection screen and we use the new one anyhow as a throw-away list). Put in there one item like Unspecified or whatever... we do not need it in the end.

Now go to your Projects main folder and open "ProcessPower.dcf" (Backup before!) with an SQL Editor like SQLite Expert (previsously close ACADP3D). Then open the table "PnPColumnAttributes" and filter the column "ColumnName" by the value EndConnections. It will give you a filtered list as shown here.

Now just change the "AttributeValue" of the row with the "AttributeName" PICKLISTNAME from e.g. EndConnections1 (or whatever name you chosed for the new picklist) to EndConnections.

And there you go (don't forget to add ":EndCodeXXX" to the AttachmentPoint1... see here). The end connections are then available through RCM and also through the properties.
