Hi,

I presume you are trying to open the drawing directly through windows explorer by double clicking on the drawing. If so, can you go to the command line of AutoCAD Mechanical and check the values for the following.

SDI and set the value to zero.

TASKBAR and set the value to zero.

Also check whether you have drawing file associativty as per the steps below,

If a program does not show up in the list, you can make the program a default by using Set Associations.

    1. Open Default Programs by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Default Programs.

    2. Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program.

    3. Click the file type or protocol that you want the program to act as the default for.

    4. Click Change program.

    5. Click the program that you want to use as the default for the file type you selected, or click the arrow next to

Other Programs to show additional programs. (If you don't see Other Programs, or your program
     is not listed,

click Browse to find the program you want to use, and then click Open

    6. Click OK

For more details follow the link below:

I am sent drawings from a customer that I need to print and I usually save them into a directory, select them all, and hit enter to open. I wil then print the visible drawing, close it, and print the next one until I've done them all. Now that I've moved to Windows 7 64 bit from XP, when I hit enter to open, nothing happens. I am able to select up to about 15 drawings and they will open but if I select any more they won't. Any ideas?

Yes, I am trying to open the drawings through windows explorer. I can select up to 15 drawings and they will open nicely, but if I select 16, only the first drawing will open. Both SDI and TASKBAR are set to zero. The association is correct or else the drawing wouldn't open. For now I am selecting 15 to open and print, and then selecting the balance (I usually don't have more than 30 prints at a time).

Hi,

There is no direct control on how many drawings that you can open through windows explorer. So it shouldn't limit you after 15 drawings.

Can you please try changing the value to a higher number as per the below screenshot.

I set the Application Menu to 20, the other one was set to 9 to no avail. I believe this must be a windows issue. Thanks so much for your input.

I have found that if I select multiple drawings from the Autocad Open dialogue box, I am able to open more than the 15 I was limited to in Windows explorer. I will run a repair on Windows to see if that fixes the problem, if not, I'll report it as a bug. Thanks again for all your help.
