The difference is the version that is plotted, published etc. has the light blue R/W line outlining the viewports on the left and right border of the viewports. I have attached the dwg file for reference. You will see how everything looks normal in the layout and model space, but when I try to publish, plot etc. the light blue R/W line outlines the viewports.

Thanks for the help.

Your posted file is nothing like the problem images you posted: you removed the XRF content creating your blue outlines.

>>....It is clickable and only accessible in modelspace....<<<
Move it, or remove it or place it on a NOPLOT layer? You may have a draworder issue, or something else, hard to tell from your stripped down DWG file missing the issue.

I did not realize the xrf files would not show up in the attached dwg file.

The pdf version above shows the problem I am having. Anyway, I need the light blue R/W layer because it shows the right-of-way of the roadway, so if I turn it to NOPLOT it will not show up in the plotted, published version.

I just need the two R/W lines that outline the viewports on both sides to not be shown.

It would probably be easier at this point to do a screen share and show you what the issue is.

Thank you for the reply.

Thank you for uploading your drawing. From what I can tell, that unwanted line is on an XREF, it's not in your drawing.

You have multiple Xrefs and none of them were uploaded along with your dwg so the forum cannot actually 'see what you see.' For the forum to be sure, you'll need to upload all the xrefs. <<BTW, none of your xrefs are dwgs.>> The easiest way to do that is to use etransmit command. This command will not only grab your dwg file but it will also gather all the necessary xrefs associated with your drawing file. The etransmit command will also package the dwg and all its peripheral files into a zip folder for easy uploading. (Simply upload the zip file.)

If I were to guess, and guessing is a big leap of intuition, I'd say the unwanted line is sitting on Carnation Color.jpg or College and Arch Traffic Loop Diagram.jpg, Both of these jpg's are pictures you have attached as xrefs to use as background images. If you open these jpg's individually, what do you see?

I never knew the etransmit command existed.

Unfortunately, the compressed zip file is 3,264,257 KB which is too big to send.

I would be willing to screen share whenever you might be available today.

My phone number is 330-823-5122.

Sorry, not on an XREF.

Are you using Civil3D? Or Map3D? You have shapefile and raster data connected. You can verify in the Data Connect palette. Enter MAPCONNECT on command line. See image-1.

Image-1.

You have a ROWLayerLayer which is bringing in a right-of-way 'GIS layer' to your map. Don't confuse a GIS layer with an AutoCAD layer, they are different. An AutoCAD layer is listed in the Layer Properties Manager while a GIS layer is listed in the Map Task Pane. Enter MAPWSPACE on command line, then select ON on command line. See image-2.

Image-2.

Your issue is not in Plain Vanilla AutoCAD. Your issue is not an Xref. Your issue is with Map3D, specifically it is with displaying GIS data. Those unwanted lines are part of your drawing and should not be eliminated. It's unfortunate those lines fall near the border of your viewport but they still belong because they indicate right-of-ways. If you like, zoom out to reveal a little more of your site and those lines are not too close to the VP edge.

BTW, the etransmit command doesn't 'gather' any GIS data so shapefiles and rasters (and any other connected data) are not included in an etransmit file folder.

So what might be the best way to make it so that only each line of the shapefile might be selectable? Not the entire thing. For instance, when I try to make modifications, the entire R/W layer GIS shapefile is selected and not each individual line.

There are at least 3 ways to do what you want, maybe more, depending of course, on the e-x-a-c-t operation you wish to perform.

So what to you want to accomplish after selecting a specific R/W line? Surely you're not saying you want to override the City's right-of-way to accommodate your drawing, correct?
