BUG with MAPIMPORT on some Shape Files

Hello

Please look at the joined SHP file ... MAPIMPORT can't import them !

But if I read them with QGIS (Or with IGNMap : a french Free viewer utility for many GIS formats)

and if if I REWrite them in SHP format ... Then the MAPIMPORT is OK !!

This is a very OLD defect of MAPIMPORT !

If ADSK or somebody else can explain me why ?? ... I will appreciate ...

These SHPs come from the French National Geographic Institute (Name = IGN) !!

Joined files : ZIP = the original SHP , DWG = MAPIMPORT after REWriting with QGIS or IGNMap ...

I got this dialogue box when I tried MAPIMPORT. I tried deleting the IDX file, but that didn't help. I don't know. I guess you'll just need to re-save in QGIS.

Hello

YES to correct these SHPs files, you can use ANY other GIS software (QGIS, ESRI, IGNMap, FME, etc) and REWrite the SHP or use an utility like Shape_Checker by Andrew ...

BUT I can't ADMIT that the MAPIMPORT is not able to IMPORT DIRECTLY these French Official SHPs files ...

Always dreaming for a hotfix for ACAD MAP (or ACAD CIVIL) ...

Hi all,

Interestingly, I do not get any error message with Map 3D 2021, but there are no objects imported.

Running some tests, I do not found another process to get the data to import, therefore I will send the file to the team to clarify if there is anything we can workaround and document a change request.

I have had acrgis do the same corruption to files and shapechecker fixed those. brigitte, is it possible to incorporate shapechecker into Map?

I don't understand the reliance on SHX or IDX (is that made by Autodesk? These are non-essential files, our driver (which read the @braudpat file fine) only needs the .SHP and .DBF files. The .PRJ becomes important only if an alternative coordinate system is needed.

It's worth noting that the ESRI Shapefile is so popular because it's open, documented and anyone competent in programming can create their own driver.

Hi All,

that is the support case unique ID which is automatically generated by the system - somehow similar to the FID in Industry Models.

The issue is reported to Map 3D team and they are working on it - keep you updated.

2) So the solution is : remove or rename the .SHX file !

which which is "not correct" for MAPIMPORT AND for the FDO SHP Driver !

The .SHX will recreated automatically by MAP and after MAP can use the SHP, DBF, etc ...
