Hi,

this has happened in the past:

AutoCAD 12 => good

AutoCAD 13 => very bad (core rewritten in C++)

AutoCAD 14 => good

AutoCAD 2000 => not too bad (new concept : layout)

AutoCAD 2000i => not used

AutoCAD 2002 => good (but cdilla protection system not very stable)

AutoCAD 2003 => not produced

AutoCAD 2004 => good (but protection system very instable)

AutoCAD 2005 => not too good (integration of .Net Framework 1.0)

AutoCAD 2006 => OK for AutoCAD (not so good for Map 3D)

AutoCAD 2007 => not so good (new version of 3D engine and render)

AutoCAD 2008 => OK (1st version of 64 bit if I remember well)

AutoCAD 2009 => ribbon (good and bad)

AutoCAD 2010 => OK

After it was less right.

I've used a lot 2012 (good), then 2015(good). 2016 has poor performance with Xref, 2018 very bad with big picture.

Now, there is so little new things that each new version is better on some features and less efficient on other.

Hi, I'm IT staff.
I never use AutoCAD but engineer staffs in my company always tell me that CAD version end with odd number is not a stable version. Sometimes I install the newest version for them and it is odd version (e.g. 2021). They are not happy.
They said they always got problem on AutoCAD odd version. So I just want to know this is true?

Hello

I began to use ACAD with R1.4 (End of 1984) ...

So I have some experience and I am almost OK with @O_Eckmann

1 ) The worst version was the R13 (with ARX v1.0)

2 ) R14.01 (not R14.00) was very good

3 ) 2000 = OK

4 ) ACAD 2008/2010/2012/2014/2015 = Good

5 ) 2016 = OK for me (Sometimes problem with XREFs !?)

6 ) 2017 = OK (My favorite DWG2013 version)

7 ) 2018 : some mysterious problem !?

8 ) 2019 is my "modern" favorite version

9 ) 2020/2021 NOTHING New / Interesting for me

THE HEALTH (Stay Safe, Stay Home, Stay Live), Regards, Patrice (The Retired Old French EE Froggy)
