I offer a coffee for that who tell me how can I delete imported unwanted symbols (2) in the "repository". Where is this "Current repository" :Library\\" (1) ? Who knows? Nobody! No any information in the help about this.

Import button will import from a dwg all blocks but I want to select which block I want to insert, this option is not right designed and developed. After some analysis, I realize the most optimal will do have every symbol as dwg file. Personally, I'd like to have one file with project symbols, not "n" symbols files.

Load symbol as a copy - explained in help "This embeds the symbol within the style information of the layer. Any change you make to the symbol (for example, changing the insertion point) affects the symbol." is not very clear how.

I did discover that if I export the layer and then drag it into a new file, the repository is empty but the layer is symbolized with symbols, but where is the symbol? If it is needed to select it for another layer is needed to import it again.

Difference between 2013 and 2023 .. .10 years version almost nothing changed, the same option but now is gray.

The help is absolutely unusable and is very thin in information. maybe only those who develop this interface know, but I think they do not work daily with this interface.

10 years version help with K$ copy-paste but the dialog "Select a symbol in the repository" is not the same.

Where is the new version?

Autodesk friends, please make small efforts and write actual documentation with a little explanation because now is a big puzzle. The good news is, that we train our brains to guess how can we solve this.

There is an error "acmapdisplaymanagement.arx" ... this error 😵 drove me crazy, now I suspect they all have some relation with "symbols" that are saved in dwg in "library" and if something happened this becomes corrupt. No, any solution then to re-create the dwg. There is some functionality in as TBD (topoBase) interface with saved display, I do not understand why is not implemented in Map3D to use in any conditions.

2013 😅 . Yes, we still developing for 2013 custom application because there are customers with this version. As we see now there is no change between 2013 - 2023, no new features. And I can tell a lot, but I give up to be "a tester for nothing new".

YES I agree : nothing really new into ACAD MAP & FDO since ACAD MAP 2013 !

But many bugs & Incoherencies to correct ...

You are making a judgement call based only on the Style Editor. Technology has advanced and Map3D has changed.

As are examples of change.

Here’s feature not frequently discussed in this forum. It’s M3D’s ability to classify points in an rcp/rcs or points processed in Recap. Of course this assumes the points were originally classified when they were shot in the field.

Another example is connecting to an FDO (feature data object) which can now bring in WMTS or a web map tile service.

Unfortunately you have chosen to promote the belief that Map3D hasn’t changed for you, and only you, in the past 10 years and that’s a disservice to those who look for new ways to solve old or recurring problems. The creative and the progressive minds of those who look to expand their repertoire in workflow will not agree with you.

what does that mean? IMO you would be an excellent candidate for the beta test program (>>details<<).

i have participated and in the feedback section you are talking to the developers, or a team leader. you don't get the same response in this forum. with autodesk's annual release model you can "hopefully" affect and see changes - at least discuss them.

Thanks for your suggestion ...

I use this software for more the 15 years, and about 7-8 "as" beta tester. I learn about shark species like "Mako", "Hammerhead", "Great white". When the "Great white" was lunched in my pure innocence I did say wow "they will swallow " the market.

I think in a forum is much visibl for the real problem than in an obscure beta forum where nothing happened. For me and for others is very clear, we should not like to complain too much, I tell my problem in forum becaseu now I have a challenge.

In a forum, I post because maybe others have the same issue and this certificate that I did not invent the problem.

It's great WMTS after all other software has this option. This option should work from the MapGuide era.
WFS .. try to extract geom from WFS ... Never mind we solve it.
"rcp/rcs or points processed in Recap" is an AutoCAD option integrated into Map, maybe is useful but is an option, if your work daily with style dialog you will change your opinion.
Autodesk Map for many every release is only a facelift. In the "shark release era" when in 8-10 months they develop interesting features was excited ... but they went and we stayed.

But in GIS era Autodesk did give up this direction, is very clear now with the "new" ESRI partner friendship is difficult to develop "new functionality".
I'm sorry, Map3D has not changed, is the same with the same old fashion dialog box, slow components are used but that's it, we use what we have, but this does not mean I can't tell it. Believe me, many people agree with me, but all realize like me ... nothing will happen.
Have used Task flow? Absolut ridicules slow I can't understand why somebody develops such an interface.

Believe me, we have enough creativity, we develop for customers some components that we think should be in a "normal" GIS program, but unfortunately we need to use the same style of dialog. Ok, maybe you'll say "Why do not create a new one? the API is poor.

The current repository doesn't exist, unless of course, you make one.

You can (or should) create a Master File of your Top 20 Blocks. Then you can browse to this Master File to acquire (or LOAD) one of the blocks from the master. Alternatively, you may also browse to another dwg file and retrieve a block that's in there. Either way, once you LOAD the block, Map3D will turn it into a symbol and be accessible from the Style Editor.

For organizational purposes you can break the Master File and create several dwg's so each individual dwg contains a category of blocks, e.g. trees, valves, drains, arrows, etc. By having more than one dwg in your Library, you can find and select a block faster.

Thanks, I know ... well.

The library "repository" exist in the past in the MapGuide enterprise era and also now in MapGuide Open source. The concept will be some ok, but they did not finish the concept in Map3D.

In MGOS the "Symbol library" is a XML file in Repository directory. Was easy to have many symbols library, we did it with MG Studio Author and manage them. The concept was right, you need a symbol, open library loaded. This does not work now because after you import the dwg with symbol all "blocks symbols from source" are in your drawing converted. The "Load" only selects the symbol for the feature class. All your symbol is in the drawing. The "Load" must be labeled as "Select symbol" because in this dialog you have all symbols and you need to select one.
