Copy and paste part of the map in AutoCAD

Hi,

How can I copy and past part of the map to a new drawing, for example the big rectangle which includes the drawing as shown in the attached picture?

Not an option the way you described it sadly. But...
Which variant of AutoCAD are you using?
Where did that image come from, or what is it?
Perhaps other solutions exist.

The image came from AutoCAD where I have map and solar design on it and my question was how can I copy part of the map (the big rectangle) to a new drawing window. I am using AutoCAD 2023.

@abdel_ezeddin More questions, "have a map" tells us nothing about it unfortunately.

Did you use GEO command to get the map?
Or is that an external image you pasted or attached to the DWG file?

May I ask why you are not using AutoCAMAP too? It is free for anyone with an active subscription to download and use, it has all the AutoCAD commands PLUS so much more https://manage.autodesk.com/products/MAP?version=2023&platform=WIN64&language=EINT

It is AutoCAd map.

I am using solar design software which is built-in AutoCAD. In the design process there is option to design solar system directly on the map from AutoCAD and I need just to trim and copy objects within a boundary from the map.

Hi @abdel_ezeddin

Assuming you have accurately assigned a coordinate system to your drawing you can do this.

Copy the white rectangle that’s in your uploaded drawing to your clipboard. Be sure to use 0,0 as the basepoint.
Paste the rectangle from your clipboard to the new or receiving drawing. Paste it at 0,0. Be sure to assign a coordinate system to modelspace before you paste it.
Turn on Bing Aerial map.
Go to Geolocation Tab=>Online Map panel=>Capture Area Icon=>Capture the Bing Imagery inside the white rectangle (click upper left corner then click lower right corner of rectangle).
Turn off Bing Aerial.
Go back to the original drawing, Copy your solar panels and all other objects using 0,0 as basepoint. Paste them in the new drawing at 0,0.

Welcome to the Autodesk Forums.
Looks like your post got moved here to the Map 3D Forum.
Did you use Capture Area or Capture Viewport? If so, it's an object that can be copy/pasted to other drawings.
