Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Helen,

I cannot reproduce this issue on my side.

I attached drawing with A4 and A3 Layouts with viewports with 1:100 scale. Everything look correct.

If you want to output at 1:100 scale, you need to choose 1:100 scale for viewport, but not 100:1

I am tearing my hair out here. I set up some simple drawings in the model space, using mm as my units. I then set out squares and rectangles at various sized e.g. 10200mm by 7500 mm (equivalent to 10.2m by 7.5m in reality). I then want to plot these to scale to A3 or A4. I create a viewport of each shape and place it onto a layout tab. I then try to apply scaling to it e.g. 1:100 (you need to do this backwards it seems in autocad for mac so I choose 100:1 e.g) so it should be scaled (by my simple mind) to 102cm by 75cm when plotted/printed.

I have tried to do this two ways. One by editing the page layout settings to show scaling 100:1, and secondly by using properties to select 100:1 as the scale. Not both together. The first seems to work, but when printed out the drawing does not scale properly - the drawing is not 102cm by 75cm. The other method seems to remove the drawing completely from its viewport - it disappears!

HELP!!!!

Looking at your screenshots I have a lot of questions:
- why do you create page setup with "Extents" "What to print" option? It should be "Layout"
- why you use 50:1 scale when you print from layout? If everything is correct with paper size, the scale should be 1:1

I think the problem could be in paper size you are using in the Layout and maybe with mixing Imperial and metric units in your drawing.
So, please, share your drawing here.

Thanks - I though I carefully set up units in decimal - but each time I try to scale using the properties, the viewport frame stays, but the drawing disappears..

its the Layout 19 I was showing you - the others have the same issue.

Helen

Are you attending college/training for AutoCAD? I see you posted an EDU file.

Your DWG file is set for units = inches: are you really wanting that? That's probably your biggest problem since your dimensions and content appear to be in mm.

Hi there

Thanks for your help - yes I am a student, but all online affiliated to a university - self study mainly. Oh - I thought that setting the units up on the model as mm would set the drawing to MM? I don;t want to use inches at all...

Create new drawing from acadiso.dwt template and copy-paste to it the contents of Model layout from your original drawing. Test viewports in Layout - they should work correctly.
