Section View Creation?

Hi.

I'm using autocad 2021 for mac. I have a file with contourlines for a municipality. The contour lines all have specific elevations. I want to make a cross section through the contour line, but cannot seem to find the Section View Creation tab? So, I have a section plane places, but cannot get to seeing the section?

If I understand your question the following may be worth a try if your contour lines are "nice" (not too many discontinuities or nooks and crannies).

Use LOFT to create a surface from the contour lines.

Use SLICE to cut the surface where you want your section plane and click on one of the two pieces that will result from the slice.

Explode the resulting surface. The section line will be available.

Do you have Autodesk Civil 3D or just plain AutoCAD?

This is very simple process in Civil 3D. Not so much in plain AutoCAD

Thank you so much! But after doing SOLDRAW, I just have all the contourlines seen from the side, and the respective section layers seem empty?

You can create sections with SECTION command only from solids, surfaces, or meshes:

Do you have them in your drawing?

If no, then you need to create one of them from the contour lines.
