Total Length in AutoCAD LT for Mac

hello Maxim,

this is a brutal solution for the total lenght of polylines in Autocad LT Mac.

for a long time i looked for a solution...

i just wonder, if there is any update for nowadays (2022/11). is there a way to sum the lengths separate for each layer?

@ruirego As an Lt user, you do not get any customized niceties like LISP that would solve your needs and present it in an easy to use manner. That's by design for your low-cost LT version of AutoCAD for MAC.

In LT, you only have access to core commands and no conveniences. PROPERTIES and LENGTHEN commands are worth exploring, after you isolate your needed layer first of course.

No, LT is still LT - you cannot use AutoLISP in it.

You can add Layer as additional condition when you use QSELECT command:

Now all polylines on Layer 0 will be selected.

hello Maxin,

i meant updates in the excel sheet!

i have tried quick select as you suggest, but i have several different layers.

I'm not great in excel but I have made some adjustments in the sheet that can give me the total length by layer (see attachment). Somebody better in excel can make the sheet better.

hello Pendean,

i used PROPERTIES in the "old way". it was a nightmare...
to get the total length of the polylines, i had to click one by one and see the length in the properties, then i had to sum all polylines lengths for each layer.

about LENGTHEN, how can it help me?

(note: I'm working on electricity, electricity and telecommunications projects. Each layer is a type of cable.)

@ruirego LENGTHEN command, at the commandline, lists the total length of every PLINE you select when prompted to do so. One By One. A limitation of your chosen low-cost LT version of AutoCAD.

the QSELECT if very manual, i'm using the method in the other post (QSELECT-LOG-EXCEL)

I don't understand how can we measure the total length of polylines with LENGTHEN

in the help it says "Changes the length of objects"

Wondering if you tried it while staring at the expanded commandline: LENGTHEN at the lists the length of every object as it is selected. It does not "total" anything, you are still in LT, handcuffed aka hobbled by not being able to do much beyond the very basics aka the long way.
