Arrowheads are blocks - once you've used them in a drawing, as a leader or dimension, they are available to insert as a block.

I then specified the size of the arrowhead and straight after types BEDIT and got this.

Seems to be no arrow block in there, am I doing something wrong?

Hi blimpmedia,

The "Closed filled" arrowhead is the default arrowhead in AutoCAD, thus it is the only one, that doesn't have block definition. If you try to explode leader with "Closed filled" arrowhead, you will see 2D solid object in place of arrow.

If you need a block in a form of "Closed filled" arrowhead, you can create customize arrowhead block in your drawing. Refer to how-to here for example.

HTH

Maxim

Surprised nobody said this, here is an easy way of making custom arrows.

1.) Make a polyline (PL).

2.) Draw the line segment.

3.) To draw the arrowhead segment hit "H" (for halfwidth) (while your polyline is still active)

3.) Enter your desired arrow width when prompted ("Specify starting half-width")

4.) Enter 0 for end width when prompted ("Specify ending half-width")

5.) Finally, you can simply drag the arrowhead as long as you need it and click to place it.

Notes:

Since it's half-width, if you specify 2.5 as starting width your arrow will be 5mm wide.

The polyline tool has a built in arc command and using the same steps mentioned above one can make arc'd arrows to show rotation direction around shafts etc.

Another option is to explode (X) a leader OR dimension.

This method is very handy for creating tapered lines. I hope this helps somebody.

I suppose the same can be achieved using the width option (W) by giving the starting and ending width values. However, instead of the half-width, here we are supposed to give the actual width. I wonder if there is a difference in these arrowheads.

Hi @Anonymous ,

You can try QLEADER command.

When you start command, use Settings option and adjust as follows:

You can adjust arrow size with DIMASZ system variable.
