There are certainly some functionality differences between AutoCAD for the Windows Operating System and AutoCAD for the Mac OS (AutoCAD: Compare Platforms). That being said, our development team is aware of this limitation within the AutoCAD for Mac with regards to importing the SolidWorks file format. They are investigating to see if a resolution can be found.

That being said, I can certainly understand the frustration that this situation can cause. There is a workaround that may be viable for you. The license for AutoCAD is cross-platform. This means that you can use your serial number for both AutoCAD for Mac and the Windows version. Though you are using a Mac workstation, there are some options to be able to use the Windows OS.

Use a virtual machine (“Parallels”) to run the Windows OS

Use “BootCamp” to run the Windows OS on your hard drive directly. This will allow you to either boot up the workstation using the Mac or Windows OS (BootCamp – Apple Support)

Best Regards,
