Move Layer File from one drawing to another in Autocad for Mac 2015

As the title states, I am having trouble moving a layer on one drawing to another. I have been able to export the layer state into a .las file, but cannot view the layer on any new drawing. Your Help is welcomed!

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Using layer states is a great way of getting layers and their properties from one file to another. Make sure that when you import the layer state that you also do a Restore of the layer state. Then you should see everything show up properly.

Another way I have moved layers from drawing to drawings is to put them in a block. Then I put the Layer block in my Content Palette. I can insert the block into a new drawing and the layers should come with it.

Unfortunately, with the holidays I got very busy and could not work on my project. However, I am still having trouble uploading the layers. Here is what I copied from my command line.

Current layer: "0"
Enter an option [?/Make/Set/New/Rename/ON/OFF/Color/Ltype/LWeight/TRansparency/MATerial/Plot/Freeze/Thaw/LOck/Unlock/stAte/Description/rEconcile]: a
Enter an option [?/Save/Restore/Edit/Name/Delete/Import/EXport]: I
Enter file name to import <Drawing2>: surveyhomes.las
Could not import layer states from file provided.

Please let me know if there is anything that I am not doing on my end that I should be doing in order to complete the import.

can you attach sample files? I would like the original file that contains the layer and from which the layer state was created. Then, please send me the destination file and the LAS file.

I would like to see if I can get this resolved for you today.
