I recently upgraded from ACADLT for Mac 2015 to 2017 and now when I open any of my files created in 2015, i get an error message telling me there are unsupported objects and missing shape files. Is there some object enabler that I am missing? Also, do I need to migrate some shape files from my old 2015 folders to the 2017 folders? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi,

Yes, you need to migrate custom share files from AutoCAD 2015 to 2017 in order to be able to use them.
About unsupported objects: AutoCAD 2015 for Mac doesn't create objects which are unsupported in 2017 version. So looks like these objects were in your drawings all the time, and I think you have not received notifications about them in 2015 version just because the alert was turned off with PROXYNOTICE system variable.
There is no object enablers for AutoCAD for Mac.
Which kind of objects AutoCAD mentioned in its alerts? Some of them - such as DGN linetypes - can be removed from the drawing with "-WBLOCK" command with * option.

Maxim

I still dont understand why it's prompting me for shx files everytime i open a file that was created with 2015. It doesnt tell me *what* it is looking for, only that it can't find a certain file(s). i have to hit cancel twice on the popup to get into the files. Is there a place where it shows what particular file it cannot find?

Hi,

Yes, AutoCAD for Mac doesn't tell which SHX file is missing. That is a defect (bug).
I believe it is SHX file which is used in complex linetype.
Can you attach one of the drawings where you get an alert about SHX file? I can check it in AutoCAD for Windows.

Maxim

Oh thank you. I actually just chose to ignore the missing shx files because i couldnt find anything in my drawings that were not there. I think it's fine now.

I think your "xboyfriend" uses one of AutoCAD verticals or some 3rd party AutoCAD plugin.

If he uses one of the AutoCAD verticals, you can ask him to use EXPORTTOAUTOCAD command to save drawing before handing over it to you.

Can you share one of your "corrupted" drawings here?
