Problem with scale on layouts

Hi,

I've been having problem with my Autocad LT 2018 trial version. I've been subscribing on my laptop but decided to use a trial version of it on a work hardware first. My problem is, whenever I go to my layouts on a2 with viewports in required scale after clicking File/Print/ Page set up and choosing 1:1 scale in mm, on a preview a viewport, notes, scale template become tiny in left bottom corner of layout page.

Please someone help me. As I cannot save pdfs nor print to scale.

It looks like your page layout isn't setup correctly, could you post the DWG and someone could check it.

Post a screenshot of your PLOT command pop-up with all of your settings, and a screenshot of your Layout capturing all of the AutoCAD program window so we can see your other settings.

Or just post your DWG file 🙂

I cannot send the file, as it's too big I'm afraid. But I did screen shot of my settings. I make pdfs by clicking File/Print/Save PDF... but this time everything goes very small and positions itself in bottom left corner... Or whenever I try to change scale into 1:1 my viewport goes huge which has never happened before. Also, please can someone tell me how to remove grid from a viewport?...Sooo silly but I forgot how to do it 😉 thank you very much guys

F7 turns the grid on and off.

Are you in modelspace when you change the scale?

What is the size of your page layout?

Is there anything outside the limits of what you can see on the screen? A quick way to find out is ZOOM EXTENTS

Why is your plot set to scale? the scaling should be done in the viewport, and plotted with a paper scale of 1:1, there is definately something wrong in the page setup. Can you make a copy of the file delete everything in model space to reduce the size and then post the file, there is an incorrect setting somewhere in the sheet manager I would imagine.

Thank you for f7 command. I'm on the layout space when try to change scale.. The page layout is A2 and it's always beens in this dwg file. There are no objects outside the page layout.

Ok Guys,

I've kept only one a2 size layout with a floor plan viewport.

Ahh..and forgot to add..it seems to work on my laptop's autocad LT which is an older version but not on the work hardware where I've downloaded the latest autocad LT.

Your file is bigger than 100MB? That's the limit here I believe.

FYI the MAC forum is over here https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-for-mac-forum/bd-p/520

We are all Windows users around here so what we detail as methods to get what you need may not be reproducible at your end, especially since PDF output is a MacOS feature and not a separate driver like we have.

Shouldn't this be 1:1 in a layout print?

Thank you Pendean for the link to Mac forum. I've attached a dwg file with one layer and plan where same problem appears. I don't see a point in attaching bigger file, or is there one? I had mentioned previously about the scale 1:1000, whenever I change it into 1:1 mm the whole viewport with template block oversizes A2 page few times.

Can you do a screencast of this "1:1000" problem you're having.

I've just opened your drawing, done a print preview on an A2 PDF and it looks perfectly fine.

In Windows OS, your layouts plot fine at 1:1 scale to PDF (see below and attached). Perhaps your scaling problem is a present in the HP driver you are using.

I have no idea why it does what it does on a MAC, and works for Windows, but the drawing units are sets to inches, and the page is setup as A2 size in millimeter units, if you do the conversion and draw a rectangle in paper space the size looks suspiciously (exactly) like the effect you are seeing. Changing the units to metric may well solve the issue.

Guys, none from your replies have helped me... nor even the f7 setting which supposed to remove grid from my viewports.. I'll try Mac forum, as I can see this file seems to work fine on your windows autocad lt and my laptop but not on hardware at my work... Thank you so much for trying to help me anyway!

You need to be in the viewport to switch the grid off/on using F7

f7 command doesn't work on grid on my mac... I had sent my file to few people, when they change settings and return to me grid is still there... Silly I know, I've swapped from windows to mac just recently and very often find myself thinking of throwing my laptop through window. I'm changing forums now. Thanks guys for your help.

It does sound like a problem specific to the Mac version, but as one final check try this file that has the units altered to mm (on a windows machine)

Let me to take part in the discussion.

About toggling grid in AutoCAD for Mac: yes, you can use F7 function key, but only if you changed settings for function keys in Mac OS System preferences to "Use F1, F2 keys as standard function keys...":

Alternately you need to use Fn+F7 combination to toggle grid.

About the problem with scale in output:

I noticed the strange dimensions of A2 paper size you are using - they are 4,200 mm by 5,940 mm as showing in your screenshot:

But they should be 420 mm by 594 mm.

I think that is the case of all problems you have with this layout.

Please check A2 paper size you are trying to use: if it is custom paper size, than correct the error, if it is one of the printers predefined paper sizes, than try to reinstall printer software.
